Lauren and Jon were married at Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven, CT on May 31, 2014.
I have visited Lighthouse Point Park quite often over the past few years to take landscape photographs and even shots of the Carousel they have there. Lauren and Jon saw and loved one of my pictures of the Carousel and decided to contact me to capture their wedding day. (pictured below)
During August of last year I did Lauren & Jon’s Engagement Session at Southford Falls State Park. This is when I really learned how much fun and down to earth this couple was. They had the idea to incorporate Holi Powder into the shoot, which is a colored powder often seen at Color Runs and Hindu Spring Festivals. Definitely check out that e-session! The photos came out so colorful and fun!
About 8 months later Lauren & Jon’s wedding day had arrived and they could not have had a better day. There was a cooling breeze and a beautiful overcast of clouds that served as a breath taking backdrop to their beach ceremony. There was a few minutes of drizzling rain upon our arrival but it cleared up shortly after.
Lauren requested to do a “First Look” before the ceremony. I really love the idea of the first look. It isn’t for everyone since some weddings are very traditional and seeing your fiance prior to the ceremony is a major no no. But for those who do not mind bending the rules a bit, it allows for a very intimate/more private moment. Lauren did a first look with her father, and then her fiance Jon. It is really a beautiful moment to see their facial expressions when they gaze upon her for the first time in her wedding dress. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and these pictures definitely make that statement true.
Most if not all the decorations at this wedding were home made. Even Lauren’s dress was made by her own mother, which blew my mind! It was such a beautiful dress. Great job Mom!
Lauren & Jon’s dog swift attended the ceremony and gave Lauren a good luck “high-five” prior to her walking down the aisle!
