I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. One of the biggest perks of being a wedding photographer is meeting new people, and I am so happy that I met Courtney & Doug Parsons.
I had my first meeting with them at a small cafe in Milford, CT called Cafe Atlantique. When I first saw Courtney I was pretty sure I already knew her. Her face looked so familiar. After a few minutes of chatting I found out that I had went to high school with her sister! Small world! We became instant friends, even though it felt like we have been friends forever.
Their wedding day was August 29th, 2015. It was a beautiful summer day with blue skies, puffy white clouds, and smiles all around. We started the day at her parents house where her and her bridesmaids got ready. Meanwhile, Doug and his groomsmen got ready at their home. My extremely talented second photographer for the day, Luke Furtney of Luke Wayne Photography, was with the guys while I was with the girls for the early part of the day. This is a great example of why having two photographers can be beneficial. Being in two places at once is still an impossibility, but with two photographers we can capture it all!
Their ceremony was at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Woodbridge, CT. I really like a wedding ceremony that is customized for the couple. Whether that is unique vows, a special reading, or in Courtney & Doug’s case, Courtney’s sister (Yes, the one I went to high school with!) played and sang an original song for the nearly newlywed couple on the alter. It was a beautifully touching moment that I will always remember, and Im sure everyone in attendance that day will too. After the ceremony we headed to the Great River Golf Club in Milford, CT to take photos and for the reception immediately following.
Courtney & Doug are a fun couple, and their bridal party was just as fun to work with. I took advantage of that and we did a ton of goofy photos! I had a little contest with them to see who can make the most ridiculous face for the camera. I still laugh looking at those photos! Once we had our share of fun, we shifted gears and went into a more romantic side of the photo session. Between Luke and myself, we captured some of my favorite photos to date. They perfectly portray the beauty and elegance of this couple’s love. And what a backdrop and gorgeous sunset we had!
I could go on and on about this amazing couple. And like I said in the beginning of this entry to my blog, I am so glad I met Courtney and Doug. We still speak to this day and consider them some of the most amazing people I know. They were in attendance at my own wedding in October of 2015 (Only a few months after their wedding) and couldn’t be happier that they were there to share the day with me and my wife Colette.
Congratulations Courtney & Doug! Love you guys!
