Lauren & Jon’s Engagement Session

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing an engagement session for Lauren and Jonathon.  We took the photos at the beautiful Southford Falls State Park located in Southbury, CT.  This was another one of those engagement sessions that I have been looking forward to all year.   Last year when I first met with Lauren and Jon and we discussed ideas for their engagement photos they brought up the idea of incorporating Holi Powder.  I’ll be honest, I have never heard of this powder before.  I knew what it was, but did not know the name for it.

Holi is a spring festival celebrated as a festival of colors.  Originating in India, this festival has become popular with other cultures, specifically the colored powder dye that is thrown (the holi powder).  Lauren and Jon wanted to have a “powder fight” with this stuff.  I was ecstatic!   The powder sure made for some amazingly colorful,unique, and fun photographs!

I took some photos of Jon and Lauren in a more formal style before they covered each other in holi powder.  In a way, this was 3 shoots in one!  We used 3 different locations in the park, with 3 different outfit changes, 3 different sets of props, and 1 fun and down to earth couple. (and their dog Swift)

I cannot wait to capture Lauren & Jon’s wedding day.  They are perfect for one another.
